Did you know Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak isn’t the film Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla made their debuts with

Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla‘s Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak is undoubtedly one of the cult classics of Bollywood. The romantic love story which is the modern take on Heer-Ranja and Laila-Majnu has completed 30 years on March 1. Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak took their lead actors – Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla to the epitome of stardom but do you know, this was not their debut film on the silver screen. Yes, you read it right. Aamir Khan portrayed the character of a rebellious college student in Ketan Mehta’s Holi, which was released before Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. Interestingly, the actor again collaborated with Ketan for Mangal Pandey – The Rising. Before Holi, Aamir also acted in a 40-minute silent film titled Paranoia which was directed by Aditya Bhattacharya and also featured Neena Gupta in a key role.

Talking about Juhi Chawla, the diva made her appearance on the big screen with Sultanat which featured Sunny Deol, Dharmendra, Sridevi and Karan Kapoor. The film failed miserably at the box office and that was one of the reasons people thought QSQT Juhi’s debut venture. Interestingly, director Mansoor Khan had shot two climax scenes of the film including one happy ending but looking at the drift of the plot, the makers went with another option.

Mansoor Khan revealed in a statement, “Although my father had initially planned to end the movie on a sad note, he seemed sceptical about the climax and asked us to shoot another ending. However, the flow of the movie gave a feeling that there might be some tragedy soon. Hence, I opted to close the movie the way Romeo and Juliet ended.” We definitely agree with the director on this. We still think QSQT is one of our favourite movies of all time. DO you agree with us? Share your thoughts in the comments section below…
