Ranveer Singh’s upcoming film with filmmaker Kabir Khan has been in the news for quite some time now. The film is based on India’s historic win of 1983 cricket world cup. While we can’t wait to see Ranveer as legendary cricketer Kapil Dev in the film, the makers have given one more reason to raise our excitement. As per the Mumbai Mirror report, the talented and versatile actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has been in talks with director and might come on board to play Ranveer Singh’s coach in ’83.

When asked to Kabir about casting Nawazuddin is true? He replied, “It’s too early to comment so I won’t confirm or deny anything.” Though in the last year’s interview he had officially confirmed about Ranveer portraying the lead character of Kapil Dev in the film, when he stated, “It’s great to have Ranveer come on board as Kapil Dev, as honestly, I could see no one else in the role since I started working on the script.” During the launch event of ’83 Ranveer expressed his love for cricket and quoted to HT, “I was born at the time when cricket was big time. When Kabir Sahab had come to me and said that there will be a film on 83, I was like finally. And when he was narrating it to me, I was like woooh. It is not a story just about cricket but a human story.”If Nawaz comes onboard for ’83, it will mark his second collaboration with director Kabir Khan after Bajrangi Bhaijaan. The film is expected to go on floors this year and is scheduled to release on August 30, 2019.
