Tom Hiddleston is taking a break! Find out what everyone else is doing
The world is eagerly waiting for Avengers: Infinity War. We will have a plethora of actors coming together for one epic event – defeating Thanos. However, speculations are rife that the superheroes will fail in their mission this time, which will lead to Avengers 4. Also, a few superheroes may die in the upcoming film, which leaves no chance of a return to the MCU for them. While we still have to wait for April 27 to find out the characters who will survive the massacre, we can still contemplate what will be the next pit stop for the actors. Avengers 4 is also a long way away. So, here is what you will see the stars of MCU doing in between the two films.
Robert Downey Jr. – The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle
Yes, Robert will be wearing the doctor’s apron after his Iron Man suit for the reboot of Dr. Dolittle. He will play a doctor with the superpower of being able to talk to the animals. Great! The movie will release in 2019.
Tom Holland – Chaos Walking, Spies in Disguise
The breakthrough entry in MCU, Tom Holland playing Spider-Man, has quite a few films in the kitty. He has Spies in Disguise – an animated film, with Will Smith, that is scheduled to release in April 2019. Chaos Walking (March 2019) will be a movie based on a Young Adult novel. So you can expect Tom to get popular like the actors of Twilight, The Hunger Games, The Maze Runner, Divergent, etc.
Chris Pratt – The Kid, Jurassic World
While Chris, who plays Star-Lord, has a lot of movies releasing around the two Avengers, like Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and The Lego Movie Sequel. He will also soon start working on The Kid. He will be playing the role of the infamous cowboy, Billy the Kid, in this movie.
Mark Ruffalo – The True American
Though there has been no confirmation, it has been widely reported that Mark, who plays Hulk in MCU, is in talks to star in The True American, an adaptation of the Anand Giridharadas’ novel, The True American: Murder and Mercy, in Texas. It tells the true story of a Bangladeshi immigrant who was attacked after a Texas man went on a murder spree following the September 11 terror attacks. Kumail Nanjiani is also in talks to star in the film.
Chris Evans – The Red Sea Diving Resor
Chris, aka Captain America, will be starring in The Red Sea Diving Resort, which is a biographical drama about a group of agents rescuing Jews from Sudan in 1981. There has been no release date set for the film yet, but it will release before Avengers 4.
Chris Hemsworth – Bad Times at the El Royale
Not much has been known about the role that the mighty Thor will be playing in the film but the plot is set in the 1960s in the popular El Royale complex at Lake Tahoe. The movie will release on October 5, 2018. He will also be shooting for Men in Black spinoff but that movie will only release a week after Avengers 4.
Scarlet Johansson – Noah Baumbach Netflix film
Scarlet, who plays the role of Black Widow, is set to star in an untitled comedy by Noah Baumbach. BTW this one will be a Netflix original, and is scheduled to start streaming on November 30, 2018.
Benedict Cumberbatch – Three voice roles
Benedict, aka Doctor Strange, seems to be the busiest after the Avengers: Infinity War. He has already shot for Mowgli, which is a motion capture performance in another live-action adaptation of The Jungle Book. Then he also has provided the voiceover in the next film of the animated series, Descendants. Also, in the movie, Dr Seuss’ The Grinch, he will be voicing the Grinch. That makes three voice projects after AIW. He will be seen playing the role of Patrick Melrose in the TV mini-series by the same name. Also, speculations are rife that he won’t be getting another Doctor Strange solo film.
Josh Brolin – Deadpool 2
Josh, playing the ultimate villain Thor, will move on to another superhero movie with Deadpool 2. He has signed a 4-film deal with Deadpool.
Chadwick Boseman – Expatriate
Chadwick, whose Black Panther has become one of the most successful films in recent times, has not many interesting projects other than the MCU movies at the moment. Shocking! But he does have Expatriate, a hijack thriller, being directed by Moonlight maker Barry Jenkins.
Paul Bettany – Solo: A Star Wars Story
Paul, aka Vision, is a last-minute replacement for Michael K. Williams in the film, after the latter did not show up on the sets for re-shoots.
Elizabeth Olsen – Kodachrome
Scarlet Witch actress Elizabeth, too, doesn’t have anything exciting in her kitty. She will be seen in the Netflix drama, Kodachrome. However, she will be starring in the web series, a dark comedy – Sorry for Your Loss. It will be released on Facebook Watch.
Sebastian Stan – Another Civil War
Sebastian, who plays the Winter Soldier, Captain America’s BFF Bucky Barnes, will be seen in the mystery thriller, We Have Always Lived in the Castle. Also, he has crime thriller Destroyer with Nicole Kidman. And also has another drama about Civil War, though this time it will be a more serious take on The Last Full Measure.
Tom Hiddleston
No new projects for Loki…Ouch! Though, he has already clarified the reason for that. In an interview with The Daily Telegraph, he said, “I’m taking a bit of a breather because I’ve been running quite hard for five or six years and I just need to check in with stuff at home. I’ve spent so much time away from home and after a whil,e you realise there are other things in life that you need to check in with, like family and friends … those things are just as important. So it’s really that.”
So, that is that!
