The character posters of Panipat are out. Featuring Arjun Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Sanjay Dutt in pivotal roles, the Ashutosh Gowariker directorial will revisit the third battle of Panipat which was fought between the northern forces of Maratha warriors and the Afghan army, which was led by Ahmad Shah Abdali.
While Sanjay plays the Afghan invader Abdali, Arjun will be seen portraying the Maratha leader Sadashivrao Bhau. Kriti plays Sadashivrao Bhau’s wife and queen Parvati Bai.
Earlier, speaking about the period drama Panipat, Kriti Sanon had said, “It is a great story that needs to be told. I like the character of Parvati Bai, especially the way Ashu sir has written it. It did attract me as I have never done something like this before. I was initially confused like how come he thought of me to play this Marathi girl because I am a North Indian, Punjabi.”
Arjun Kapoor, on multiple occasions, has also claimed that he has always wanted to do a period film and is excited that he is finally getting a chance to be a part of one.
